"The boutique was closed, but Issey's whole corner was of glass and inside was the prettiest and most unusual sight: as one looked in, one saw only bleached wood, stairs and platforms, everything blond and light, with latticed railings reminiscent of the Heian Period scrolls and paintings and the beautiful centuries-old city of Nara. There, right in the heart of Paris was a gleaming, happy, sunny corner filled with green and fruit-bearing trees."

Diane Vreeland on her first visit to Issey Miyake's boutique in Paris by Shiro Kuramata, 1977
